Buenos Aires, Argentina
February 2011
We were excited to escape winter in the northern hemisphere, spending a beautiful summer week in Buenos Aires, and taking pictures of the city with our black Panasonic Lumix LX5.
To change things up, we decided this time to make triptych images instead of straight single exposures. Most of the time, we used the Panorama Assist mode to shoot, but we do not attempt to stitch the images together perfectly. Rather, we loosely put the 3 exposures together to make an image that would evoke a feeling of place.
Buenos Aires is a huge and complex city with great energy. There are slick upscale neighborhoods and there are rundown areas. PorteƱos, as the people of Buenos Aires called themselves, are lively and friendly.
We like to travel with our folding bike and brought one to ride in Buenos Aires. Despite its aggressive-driving reputation, we didn't find any problem with cars and drivers in the city. Near the end of our trip, unfortunately, we were robbed of our bike in broad daylight near a touristy area. However, we don't want to give the impression that the city is not safe, we found the people we met friendly and felt safe - and perhaps let our guard down which we should keep up in any city - especially when wandering around taking pictures.
Viewing Tips
The photo gallery is best viewed when the browser is maximized or in fullscreen mode (on many browsers, fkey F11 switches to and from fullscreen mode). Arrow keys can also be used to navigate forward and backward.
Normally, clicking on a thumbnail will display the photo fitted within the size of the browser. To see the full size of a panorama, right click on the thumbnail and select the Open Link In A New Window command.
