Fun To Be Wet
September.2009

Waterproof cameras document those aquatic moments that make everyone back at work jealous. We had a lot fun taking a green Lumix TS1 to shoot in Honolulu and around the Oahu island, in, out, and under the water.

The TS1 is compact but feels very solid and hefty in hand, which is good when underwater. Controls and buttons are well placed, they feel more firm than land-based Lumix cameras - probably because of internal sealing - but still, they are easy to use, in and out of the water. Image quality is very good for this type of camera and lens, although we think the 10 megapixels sensor of a Lumix ZS1 or ZS3 would do even better.

Overall, the Lumix TS1 is a very good all-around camera. We used it in many different lighting conditions in Hawaii and are very happy with the results. It is compact; has a good lens with a useful zoom range; works well both inside and outside the water; and can take some abuse. All in all, ideal for adventurers who are rough with their cameras.
